• Time to deep clean the floors just as spring hits

  • Spring is a popular time of year for building managers to make cleaning a priority. Because dirt and grime can build up during the winter months as people track in the weather from outside, cleaning crews will typically do a deep clean once the bad weather is over. This isn’t to say that there aren’t spot cleans in between, but sometimes a crew needs to roll out the mop cart and get to work.

According to Real Simple, mops can help clean a variety of different floor surfaces, including wood, tile, cork, linoleum and more. Depending on the sensitivity of the surface, you may need to adjust how much moisture you put on the mop. Luckily, there are microfiber options, you can simply use a dry mop, or, if the floor allows it, you can use a mop bucket with a little bit of soapy water; just always be sure to wring the mop out beforehand so puddles do not form.

For a little extra polish on tiles, Reader’s Digest suggests adding a bit of vinegar can bring out some extra shine. The news provider recommends mixing the liquid with ammonia, all-purpose cleaner and water for floors that will really shine. Treat this as a polishing technique after the deep clean.
